Radon Gas Awareness Program

Join ISU Extension Polk County and state specialist, Kapil Arora - Field Agricultural Engineer, for a one-hour presentation that will cover what radon gas is, health effects, how to properly test it, and different mitigation strategies. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas coming from the soil that you can’t see, smell, or taste. Polk County is one of the highest-risk regions in the country for radon - more than 70% of homes in Iowa test above the EPA action level. High levels of radon can be found in any type of home, so it is important for everyone to test their home.

Registration is required to attend. Each registered household in attendance will leave with one short-term radon testing kit.
