Sea Kayak Exploration: Ducks in the Estuary
Join us for a unique fall sea kayaking experience on the waters of Duluth Harbor as we catch the tail end of raptor migration season. The final wave of late migrants often include Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Goshawks and Eagles funnelling southwest along the lakeshore and bluffs of east Duluth. We will also search the water for migrating waterfowl making their way south. We will hope to spot a variety of duck species — including Goldeneyes, Scaup, Buffleheads, Canvasbacks, Mergansers, Tundra Swans, Canada Geese and others — as they stop to rest and feed in the harbor's sheltered waters before continuing their journey. This guided paddle offers a blend of wildlife observation, paddling in a dynamic harbor environment, and an opportunity to deepen your connection to the seasonal rhythms of Lake Superior. A mandatory session in the UMD pool to practice essential skills is required on the evening of Friday November 6th from 7pm - 9pm.Register By: November 6, 10am Eligibility Requirement: Everyone is welcome!
