Film: Mimmo Paladino's Quijote (2006)

Quijote (2006)Director: Mimmo PaladinoRuntime: 75 minutesLanguages: Italian with English subtitlesProduction: Italy | Ananas

A visionary journey into the world of Cervantes’ antihero, where the wandering knight traverses ancient and contemporary landscapes inhabited by symbols, apparitions, and timeless figures. Mimmo Paladino transforms Don Quixote into a cinematic tapestry of images in which painting, theatre, music, and film merge into a procession of poets, magicians, emperors, and madmen. Suspended between myth and dream, and accompanied by the music of Lucio Dalla, Quijote restores to its wandering knight the inexhaustible power of utopia.

This film is being screened as part of the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art’s temporary exhibition Mimmo Paladino: Present into Past. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Joseph Becherer, exhibition curator and director of the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art, and Juan Vitulli, associate professor of Spanish.
