We Were Paper is an alternative rock band hailing from the Quad Cities IL/IA.
The project was the brainchild of singer-songwriter Jack Morrow. In June of 2025, Morrow recorded We Were Paper's debut EP at Flat Black Studios, blending lo-fi grit with youthful urgency. Later that year, the lineup was completed with the addition of Paige Jackson on bass and Weston Libby on drums. While the band name is new, the lineup is composed of seasoned members who have already performed at iconic local venues such as Raccoon Motel, The Rust Belt, Redstone Room, The Washington, Alternating Currents, and Gabes.
We Were Paper’s known for their fun, high-energy stage presence and a love for raw, feedback-soaked sound. Their sound reflects wide-ranging influences, blending the offbeat charm of Weezer, the lo-fi aesthetic of Pavement, and the emotional punch of Los Campesinos! The result is a fresh and unmistakably personal sound defined by catchy earworms with fuzzed-out edges.
