Rooted in Reading: Thankful for Trees

Discover the hidden stories of the trees that make our neighborhoods healthier, greener and more beautiful. Join Landscape Operations Manager Travis Derks for a monthly exploration of the remarkable ways trees shape our environment and enrich our lives.

Through engaging stories, hands-on activities and thoughtful discussion, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how trees support wildlife, improve air and water quality, capture carbon, weather Wisconsin's changing seasons and strengthen the ecosystems that sustain us. Each month highlights a different tree-related topic, revealing new perspectives on the natural world right outside your door.

Every session features a read-aloud book, an interactive activity and opportunities for discovery. While the books are for school-age children, the conversations and activities are designed to engage nature enthusiasts, lifelong learners and curious minds of all ages. You’ll leave with new knowledge and an even greater appreciation for the vital role trees play in creating a healthier, more resilient community.
