Wait. What Just Happened? A Conversation with author Sara Biren

The road to publication—and literary success—is long and winding. Most authors, however, don't talk about the detours and roadblocks along the way. Since her first novel was published in 2017, local author Sara Biren has both experienced amazing vistas and hit every single pothole along the way. What happens when an author is on the brink of success—from invitations to speak on a panel at the esteemed Los Angeles Times Festival of Books and phone calls with Hollywood producers—and the road washes out from underneath?

Spend an evening with Sara and MPL's Tim Gadzinski for a sit-down conversation (with audience questions, of course) in MPL's Balkansky Community Room on Thursday, November 5, from 6-7 PM and learn what it takes to keep moving forward in an unpredictable and capricious industry.

Sara Biren writes stories from the Northwoods with heart, humor, and happily-ever-afters.. The author of adult and young adult contemporary romance, she earned an MFA in creative writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and works part-time as a freelance editor. Her most recent adult rom-com, I Saw You First, was published in September. She is a member of Chicago-North Romance Writers, Contemporary Romance Writers, and Write-On Door County, and serves on the board of the Wisconsin Writers Association. Until recently a lifelong Minnesotan, Sara now lives in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. If she’s not reading, writing, or watching hockey or football, you’ll most likely find her at a concert or record store with her husband and kids or hiking the Ice Age Trail.
