Strange and Found VHS SHow
Chicago VHS obsessives Joe Pickett (Found Footage Fest) and Scott Miller (Strange Tapes Zine) have cultivated a combined collection of more than 16,000 hand-picked VHS tapes—no internet clips, ever. This is a live screening and comedy show that explores the strange, hilarious, and unforgettable world of VHS. Expect anything, including local TV oddities and homemade commercials to regional celebrities, forgotten instructional videos, unexpected pop culture connections, strangers' home movies, amateur UFO investigations, forgotten TV oddities, and maybe even an exercise video. Each host will share favorite clips from their own collection, along with the stories behind the tapes, the people who made them, and the adventures of tracking them down. This show is a celebration of the wonderfully weird analog culture that could only thrive in America's heartland. (Approx. 80 minutes. Will likely be PG-13 in rating.)
This event will be at Paradigm Coffee and Music (1202 N 8th St, Sheboygan, WI). Doors will open at 6PM, show starts at 7PM. No tickets required, seats are first come, first serve. Light food, drinks, and merch available for purchase.
This event is made possible with Mead Public Library, Paradigm Coffee and Music, and The Sheboygan Film Festival.
