Intergenerational Book Club
Welcome to the Intergenerational Book Club
Teens and adults rarely get the chance to talk with each other as equals about things that really matter. This book club is designed to change that. Each month, participants of every age read a book connected to a national observance or important theme and use it as a springboard for real conversation about experiences, values, memories, and hopes.
Program Goals
- Open conversation. Create a welcoming space where a 13-year-old and a 90-year-old can each be both teacher and learner.
- Share experiences. Use stories on the page to invite stories from life.
- Build empathy and community. Help participants see the world through eyes of other generations, cultures, and abilities.
- Celebrate reading and the library. Connect readers to the wide range of formats and resources the library offers.
