Baraboo Writer's Blast: Ink and Imagination
“Baraboo Writers Blast is a community writing group for adults over 18 who want a place to explore their written stories—real or imagined. Born from a shared love for creative expression, our group brings local writers together in a supportive, encouraging space to share ideas, try new techniques, and build community. Whether you write daily or haven't written in years—and whether you're working on personal memoirs, fiction, or poetry—we offer a friendly, pressure-free table where everyone's story is welcome.”
November: The Elephant in the Room - This session turns writing dialogue into an entertaining puzzle about what isn't being said. Participants will write a scene where two characters are stuck together in a small, enclosed space—like a stalled elevator, a doctor's waiting room, or a stranded car. The catch? Both characters hide one massive secret, but they are forced to talk about everyday ordinary things like the weather or cold coffee to avoid spilling the truth. You’ll practice building tension and comedy as your characters dance around the main issue, discovering how much story happens between the lines when people try to hide how they really feel.
