Art Exhibit: Walking You Home
Susan Sveda-Pachaud created this body of work to explore love, death, and memory. Her mother was cremated without a funeral service. This exhibit is Susan’s very own funeral for her mother.
About the Artist:
Susan Sveda-Pachaud makes art that tells tales of love and loss. She is interested in the shared human dramas of love, life, and death. She considers her practice to be influenced by Arte Povera, Outsider Art, and traditional women’s work. She is recognized for using found objects and materials to help carry and convey content. Many of her techniques use repetition and labor-intensive processes to speak to the traditional domestic labors of women. Her practice encompasses both 2D and 3D work.
Susan has been awarded major financial support for her unusual work through several academic scholarships from UW Eau Claire (BFA) and the University of Chicago (MFA). She was awarded and completed a 12-month artist studio residency, and she has also received a Bush Artist Fellowship. Susan also had the honor of exhibiting in a group show in Maine, with Kiki Smith and Mona Hatoum. She has exhibited since 1992.
