Willy St. Co-op Cooking Class: Elements of African Gumbo

Join Chef Steffery from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12, at Willy St. Co-op to learn how to make elements of African gumbo.

Explore the history, culture, and foods that made Louisiana a true melting pot. We will explore by ingredients and/or culture, sampling foods that contributed to the main dish of the state, Gumbo. Join Steffry to discuss the traditions and history that make Louisiana what it is today.

On the menu: Jambalaya, Okra and Tomato Stew, Calas, and Hush Puppies. Everyone will make a Voodoo Seasoning packet to take home as well! Laissez les bon temps rouler.

Recipes contain: milk, tree nuts, and wheat.

Demonstration with limited hands-on opportunities.

Ages 13+. $30 for co-op members/owners and $40 for non-owners.
