GSU Opera presents Idomeneo

Georgia State University Opera Theater presents Mozart's Idomeneo, directed by Dr. Mark Lubas.

The Trojan War is over. On Crete, with the king still lost at sea, his son Idamante has begun something his father never imagined — freeing the Trojan prisoners and reaching toward the people his family spent a decade fighting. It is the beginning of a new way of living together.

Then Idomeneo comes home, bound by a desperate vow to the sea god: the first living soul he meets on shore must die. The son who runs to greet him becomes the price of his survival.

One of Mozart's most ambitious and dramatically powerful works, Idomeneo moves from a storm-tossed opening through political intrigue and divine wrath to a final act of startling humanity. Sung by Georgia State students, with some of Mozart's most electrifying and tender music.
